The Epping Elementary PTO was thrilled when after their continued efforts of communication with Wal*Mart that they received a donation of $500 to use on PTO events for the school and families of Epping.
What do you think? Should corporations give more back to the communities where they reside?

This blog is very clever - you are multi- talented. You will have to teach me. Yes, I think corporations should help the communities more!
Hi Lori,
You are awesome! Corporations and businesses need to give back to the communities where they are located. It's healthy for the community and the business! I love walking in to a store or restaurant and seeing a picture of the Little League team they support, a thank you from the local school for sponsoring an event, etc.
Great job Lori.
Every corporation should give back to the community and it should not just be around the holidays. Businesses have so much they can offer to a city or town whether it be volunteering, donating or sponsorships.

I think walmart should have kicked in something more substantial than $500. undoubtedly they they were having a bad hair day...
There's no question that businesses should do more to support the communities where they have a presence. The issue is how much. One idea to elicit more support would be to annually publicize the 100 most philanthropic businesses and corporations.
Tell Walmart to triple that gift! Yes, they and all corporations and businesses should give back.
Excellent blog.
I think it's great that WalMart donated. Another way that a large business (like WalMart) could help local schools is to have a collection bin to collect the Box Tops (found on cereal boxes and lots of other products). People without children might be more inclined to save them and drop them off that way. I've noticed this before in a Hannaford and thought it was a great idea.
This is incredible! Lori, I have told you many times you are SO creative! That is a gift from Above! Be blessed! Your works always produce fruitful results and may you continue to learn and grow in the areas you enjoy.
That's a great first start for Epping. WalMart should be able to maintain that level and more. Major corporations don't bear enough tax load, they should certainly be more philanthropic in their host communities.
Wow Lori,
There's certainly a lot of great ways to help out there. I hope that you keep this open to keep adding as more comes up. I think that a big reason people don't help is because they don't have the resources to really know how to. Great job!
I think that the Corps. should be giving back to the communities, and donating. All of the surrounding towns all spend so much money at these places, they could help the local schools out a little bit.
I think that businesses should contribute to the towns in their neighborhood, however a business has the decision WHAT and WHOM should they donate to? Should they give to the little league or the soccer team, should they give to the high school in the town they are in or the next town over. This is a great challenge for the businesses. Investigation of who to give donations to could be a whole different line of work. Anyhow, I'm just rambling now so I guess my answer to your question is yes.
lori! you have some great tips for those interested in fundraising! I enjoyed reading your blog!:)
Keep up the good work.
